This is the thread to discuss the theme, competition, and entries to the POTY 2009 Competition, Round 05 (May).
Entries can be found here (http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?p=1509890#post1509890)
Discussion only in here please, do not use this thread to submit your entry :)
*IMPORTANT NOTE*
Anonymous entries are no more! It has been decided that the anonymous entry system had too many problems and difficulties, both in people entering and the staff sorting the results etc. Therefore entries will no longer be anonymous and can be posted as normal.
I like it... :naughty:
Lots of thinking to do!

Wonder which 'number' will be the most popular? It's going to be hard thinking outside the box for this one.
I suppose doing it anon did create a lot of work but I for one felt more comfortable entering that way. Should make it easier for The Big Yin's leader board though.

Yeah me too but I don't blame them for changing it if it was all that hassle.
I'm a mathematician so this ought to be an easy theme for me... in theory that is!!
I have just had a great idea . only one problem it would have to go in the glamour and nude section:nuts: hmmmm numbers
md:lol:
Groovy. As for not posting anon, I will make it easier for my Mum to vote for me. :D

Thanks for thinking about me ;)
Personally, I don't have a problem with posting under my own name, considering the amount of background work it must have created for the mods. I'm quite happy to keep the leaderboard going through the rest of the year - as you have guessed, it's probably 10 minutes worth of number crunching to get the stats - the real work has been getting peoples names, and hassling/cajoling people into owning up to the anon. entries. I've still 30 from February and 36 from March that are unclaimed. It would be nice if we could get all the names in now, seeing as we're going un-anonymous (is that a word ).
Go on - don't be shy! PM me with your forum name and entry month/no, you know it makes sense
I think I'm being a bit dim this afternoon. I can't find the thread with all the entries for Round 3, or the leaderboard.

Much easier!
As for the subject... Ugh! I'll get to the drawing board...

Forgot to add I'm sorry to hear that the anymouse :D
posts have bit the dust :(
Yeah shame about the anonymous posting being done away with, I think it adds something to competitions even fun ones when no-one knows who they are voting for. Like the sound of the theme for this month though and will need to get me thinking cap on.

Blimey, this one is going to be a test!
I completely ran out of time for last months entry, never managed to submit one. Scouting took up most of my time last month. Will make sure I enter this one though, got loads of ideas.

rulers
clocks/dials
id or registration numbers
dates on various items such as gravestones
phones

reciepts
map coordinates
price tags
tv/radio stations
sums /kids homework
money
and the list goes on and on, even when Ive kept my favourite ideas to myself;)

The other week we had a challenge for the next few days, No 12, I think of numbers, I didnt do them as I was going away, I was going to do
#1 --- Alpha (1), ( close-up of a Alpha Romeo Badge),
#2 --- Sigma (200), ( Sigma lens at 200mm)
#3 --- Pi, (a custard or Meat and Potato Pie reflected on a black plate)
or did think of infinity
Greek theme
See Animal has done PI for this challenge

When I first saw the theme I had loads of ideas but putting them into practice was another thing  Anyway, still determined to enter every round as I've learnt so much from simply having to take the shot to a theme, rather than looking for shots! Good luck everyone

Some great entries this month! Well done everyone!!
I've already picked my 1st place though, I'll be shocked if it doesn't win!!;)
I think the subject was a hard one this month. Numbers just aren't that photogenic as I think the lower number of entries this month is testament to, some very nice entries though.
I had an idea a while ago for what I wanted to enter but in the end I didn't get it as I got let down with a lift to the place where I wanted to shoot, so I ended up spending ages looking round for another idea over the last couple of days and I think I managed to come up with a decent shot anyway. Good luck everyone.
Well I tried & failed miserably.:'(
(must invest in a macro lens.)
There are some very good entries this month, well done to all who entered.

Poll will be up in a bit :)
Echoing the others thoughts, this was by far the most challenging theme so far. Had a great idea of using the playground markings at my little girls school, but they wouldn't let me take any photo's in the playground during school hours (despite only wanting to use my own daughter as a model) and I didn't fancy breaking in after hours. Next idea was for a bag (if that's what it is) of Golf clubs, against a background of golf course, with the focus on the numbers on the club heads. However, never realised that no-one I know plays golf ! and what with weekends away etc. never had a chance to get down to the local club to introduce meyself to some of the members. Consequently, my entry had to be taken from a limited choice of household items from a selection I took as soon as the theme opened while I was plotting the money shot.
Not expecting many votes at all this month, but at least I got an entry in (and had some great ideas for future shots) - Not given up on the golf clubs either, will get there eventually.
not sure how I managed to double post - Think my laptop's gone mental

Not many entries this month and I wasnt exactly satisfied with my entry either. Have to say I love no 33 and am rooting for that one to win.
