Any chance of seeing some photo's of the location & in action?

Very nice. At least up to your usual standard.
I'm beginning to wonder if you've got just the one tree at the bottom of your garden. A fir tree. :)

No flash used on these Ally, although I can see why you'd think there was, particularly No2. We had an uncharacterstic burst of sunshine for a few minutes - I actually got 1/250 at 400 ISO. :)
nice ones again CT that 500mm will be worn out ;)

Well the location is my back garden, and I'm loathe to post pics of it as it would be fairly obvious where I live to a lot of neighbourhood ne'er do wells, being on the edge of a local park ;)
The tree is about 20 -25 feet from my kitchen window and most of the shots are taken through the open kitchen window, the camera being tripod mounted. I can get a little closer by sitting outside and keeping very still.
The tree was planted a little over three years ago and only makes on average about 6 inches growth in a year. It's currently about 4.5ft high. It was planted at the optimum distance for photographing birds, and that was the reason for planting it. We chuck a handful of birdseed around it every morning. I still must chuck about 90% of shots in the bin due to how fast moving these birds are, causing blurred shots.
HTH :)

I have! If you could see the pocket hanky where these shots are taken you'd be surprised. ;)
Sorry if the tree is a bit repetitive for you guys, but it matters not for stock library shots. I've done most forms of commercial snapping in my time, and now I'm pursuing what I really enjoy the most, which is wildlife, and building up good quality stock library images is as much effort as I want to put into making money out of it these days. :D

Chloroform, Magnifiying glass and a lot of patience ?
LoL ... :D ... How can you tell ... :suspect:
Seriously though ... in breeding plumage ... (as most will already be now ready for next Spring's session !) ... the males are a lot brighter with bolder markings than the females ... but notably ... also have a broader breast stripe ... the black bit from bib to belly ... ;)
:p
excellent shots CT:thumbs: #1 is my favourite
