hi, i am looking for the best price for a canon 500D. i wish to purchase it on a monthly payment plan as i cannot afford a lump some purchase.

the best and only place i have found is 'warehouse express' which sells the 500d and 18-55mm lens with the monthly options(+30%) ...goes for about £860. which is not too bad. do you know of any offers that beat this?

thanks for your att.

Wait a few months and the price will plummet. Unless you need the video function, buy the 50D instead.

If your struggling to afford it don't buy now, the price will plumet and you could get much better value by getting a 400/450 and putting the other money towards the inevitable accessories!

nearly 1k on a xxxD series, i got my 400d brand new after 3 months of release for £400 from amazon.

i wish to god someone would have told me to get a second hand 40d instead, or a 30d as it would have been at the time.

If you've set your heart on a 500D jessops do interest free buy now pay later , thats how I got my 40D.
I would reccomend looking at a 40D or 50D and 450D is very good too, for a lot less than £800

Wow, £850 for a 500d?

You can get a 50d with a decent lens for less than that..

I'd recommend getting a camera that you can afford, go second hand for even better bargains!

thanks for your diligent replies.

the reason i am looking at the 500d is because i need the megepixels (i need about 15 mp), and the noise levels to be low... primarily low noise (from a raw mode level)...thats essential otherwise no matter how good my photos shots will not get excepted by my agency... i am pusuing certain stock photography.

so i am not sure if any camera beats the 500d on those terms for the price range, even second hand...otherwise i would have bought it.

i would like to be proved wrong. prove me wrong : )

erm... 50D is 15+MP and has better high ISO performance than the 500D...

Any of the 1D models would beat it on low light performance, and many would beat it numbr of pixels (not that it is overly important when considering other factors)
