Hi All

Just a really quick Q.

If I scale down the image in photoshop, what resolution should I print at?

I want to print some photos out from my Canon Pixma ip4300. I have only ever printed 1 photo before and that was terrible!! I have used photoshop to scale the image size down to the size I want, then I noticed that the print was all pixel-y.

I know you can just press print and the printer will scale down for you. But what If I want to print 3 pictures on 1 A4??

I also know if you put the resolution up then the picture will be alot smoother. So can anyone tell me what I should set it at??

Say I took the image from my camera (400D) and scaled the image down to 10cm by 6cm. (283x189 pixels) shall I set the resolution to something like 200?? 300?? or more?

Thanks

Marcel

I always keep it at 300 if I can.

Have you changed any of the colour management / printer settings in photoshop, you maybe experiencing photoshop and your printer profiling processing it twice ?

Have you tried printing out your photo resized in photoshop and then saved as a JPEG / TIFF file using Canons printing software - I get good results with very little messing around printing directly via Canons software.

300dpi is considered optimum for printing

You don't meed to do any resizing, the printer software does it for you. Just select the print size (10 x 15cm or whatever) and it will print them off.
