I am just starting out doing portrait photography

So far I have a full length paper roll in white and half rolls in black & Grey
I also have a double sided black/white 8ftx8ft cloth backdrop with train

Are there any other colours that are essential for portrait photography and are there any colours that I should stay clear of??

What are the pro's & cons of the different types of background - what would you recommend

Cheers

Michelle

Maybe have a look in the People & Portraits forum here, see what's popular, and see what you like. Then ask for details. Massive choice of this stuff.

Have you got your lighting sorted? That's the bit I'd be most concerned about!

With a grey background it is easy to make it white.... easier to make it black and with the use of gels on your background lights easy to make it any colour you like! I love my Lastolite HiLite :)
