This is the first attempt at a new promo shot for my lovely band (http://www.bikiniblackspecial.com)... the location was a little dark, and we were having to use a timer 'cause I'm in the band - unfortunately our lead singer wobbled slightly as the shot went off, and this was the best one we managed - couldn't see it on the camera screen, so only found the blur when I got home :S
I think we'll do it again, but thought I'd see what you folks thought anyways :)
Great Idea, but needs more work. Keep at it - don't try to save this image, go back and take it again (and again and again and again) til you get it right.
Also the background's a little fussy IMO, I'd look around for something with less clutter - the aircon unit top left doesn't need to be there, nor do the bits of electrical wire hanging down. All that can be cloned out of course, but save yourself some work and lose it to begin with.
Lovely idea, wouldn't mind a tighter crop.

Same thoughts, exactly.

Yep, great idea that just needs to be perfected. Well done!

Thanks guys, I'll scout around for a spot with slightly more blank wall, and give it another go when I can get the whole band to manage to turn up to rehearsal in black again ha ha.

oh patrick you do look like Arnold J Rimmer!
i like the idea, fix the blur on the lead singer and i cant help thinking it needs a bit more light in the background,
if you want to borrow a flashgun gimme a shout
I like it with the current background, gives it a bit of feel. Just wondering, how did you do this? :p

Giant magnets, stem cell research, a high fibre diet, meditation, zen thought, and a pact with our dark lord satan.
Not really :)
Set up the shot on the tripod, got everyone stood on boxes, took the shot, then cleared everyone out and took a shot of the space on it's own with nobody in it. Then layer the people shot over the empty shot in photoshop, and start erasing the boxes out of the top layer, revealing the empty space beneath. Finally, a bit (lot) of work with the clone brush to improve the shadows, and lots of zooming and neatening and adjustments to get the right look.
Hard work, but worth it, I thought!
Agree mainly with above. Take the shot as described some way forward of a contrasting background to assist selection by colour and then you can superinpose on any background you choose. Take the local boy band so know what it is like trying to please them all and then having to fit the graphics - good luck!
