Mind you, looking at some of the entries, I'm glad I missed it. ;)

That is really wonderful. This is one place where a cluttered background really adds to the picture. Top notch.

Thank you. I think I much prefer the colour original. :)

She reminds me of the granny with tweety bird! Bet she could hit hard with a rolling pin. I have to say I prefer the colour version also.

I prefer the full colour version too, warmer and friendlier I think.
I liked the whole set you put up CT ...I had your images of the guys behind the old counters in mind with this months comp myself.... I didn't get their though.

...and theirs me thinking the entry with the nice blur could be your new lens. :D

LOL. I dunno Ven there's some impressive entries in there mate.;)

Btw this lady was a 'living exhibit' at The Black Country Museum in Dudley. She was a lovely lady... "You don't mind if I keep knitting while you take your photos?

She made me laugh too... "The good old days? You gotta be kidding, I can't wait to get home"

Daft!! ;)

What's there to be nervous about? Nothing will help you more than feedback... the good bits and the bad bits. We're all trying to improve, so we're all in the same boat.

I love the photo - but can't decide if I like the B&W or Colour version better. Think I prefer the colour but the cupboard just behind her head kind of distracted me a bit. Had a little play (and I seem to be obsessed with selective colouring at the moment) and came out with this:

It really is a great shot :) nice work!

Edit: Dont very quickly with a way too big a brush :p

Interesting take Jimmy. I'm not the biggest fan of selective colouring, I think it's used far too often to try to make the mundane a bit more interesting, but that does work pretty well. :)

The cupboard door was open to show those old newspaper shelf linings cut into fancy patterns. The worrying bit is I do remember people doing that when I was a kid. In fact that place brought back a lot of memories for me.
