I am planning to shoot my friends bungy jumping, I will be using a 70-300 vr lens with my D300 + Grip, the question here is what is the best way to focust them AF or MF to get high 8fps. Is the D300s auto focus fast and acurate enough in such a high FPS or is it better to manually focus on them, in which case once they jump “towards me” I will lose a bit of focus.
Please advice me. Many thanks for your help.

if it's a bright day, and not in the shadow, you could probably just jump it to f16 or so... though maybe just keep it on af-c, choose a direction to shoot from so that there's an uncomplicated background to distract the focus, and just keep it focussing as you follow him falling :/

or set up a remote camera to catch his face at the bottom of the jump.... :D

I like the idea of this, thanks. can i let them trigger the camera to release thhe shutter? What do i need for that?

Just set the camera up with the timed shooting function... go with f16 and a wide ish angle on the lens... and hope the cord doesnt snap :)
