View Full Version : Sigma 1.4* Teleconverter Problems

My 1.4* TC has started "wobbling" for want of a better word.

There are two plastic rings around the outside of it, one with SIGMA APO TELECONVERTER 1.4* EX DG written on it (This is the lower one). The top one moves away from the bottom ring, but only one the side where all the writing is. The other side, where the serial number is, doesn't move int he same way.

So when there is a lens on the camera, with the TC atttached, this must throw off the focusing which is what is causing my probkems (I'm guessing).

Has anyone else seen this type of problem? And short of replacing it does anyone know of a fix?

I think you can tighten the convertor up a bit - I read about this recently but I can't find the thread.

Nope - not the screws.

At least not the ones on the outside anyway.

Its the ones on the inside. Undo the outer screws and carefully remove the body mounting side and it reveals 4 more black headed screws. Tighten them up and it will be fine for a while, however, if you can undo them and add a weeny bit of loctite carefully before replacing them, that might be even better - no guarantees though I havent done it, but utmost care would be required. I posted a thread about this several months ago and now mine is just starting to loosen again so its a job for this weekend.

Welcome :D Glad it worked. It does seem to be a problem with Sigma converters, but as long as you know, you can deal with it.

Anyone take this up with Sigma.
I was thinking of getting that converter. The lens I intend using it with can only use Sigma converters (so the instructions say).
