View Full Version : My day at Beaulieu (my first pics posted!)

These are the first pictures I have taken that aren't snap shots, my first go at "real photography" :embarrassed: . Grendel (Paul) was kind (or brave) enough  to lend me his 400D for the day :D . I really gave myself a hard task as the lighting was terrible and all the cars were roped off and so close together it was almost impossible to get the shots I wanted :'( . I had to have my ISO at 800-1600 so apologies for the noisey pics

As this was my first attempt and it's taken me 2 weeks to pluck up the courage (and a lot of nagging from Paul!) to actually post them, I'd really appreciate any C&C, good or bad - I'm so keen to learn and improve. Paul says I might get a camera for my birthday if I stick at it :D

I like the natural wood textures in this steering wheel and I like the OOF car seen through the wheel

I love how this looks like a model car, even though it isn't!

Paul says he actually remembers seeing these on the road (showing his age again!)

Thanks very much for looking

Yea agree with Robert.

Having taken pictures indoors of cars etc ... we all know how difficult it can be to get a well exposed, nicely saturated shots as you have.

Only one thing for it , now your going to have to go out a buy yourelf a camera..

anything with an xjr-8 in it gets my vote

not sure about beaulieu but at brooklands museum they are very helpful and will let you move the rope barriers and let you take photos wherever you like.
also, if you worried about noise then grab yourself a tripod and a remote (or use the timer), that way you can set it to ISO 100 and away you go :)
thats the good thing about cars that arent moving :)

I can only add to the above plaudits.
Well done.

NB: If you do buy a DSLR it can get very expensive very quickly...

Great set Bubbs and congrats on posting them! Think you need a camera all of your own :whistling:

I have driven the sister "orange" car to the one you have a shot of. It is based on an old style mini and has an automatic gear box. You sit on to of the engine so your legs are straight out in front of you. I have taken it to Stornoway in the Western Isles amongst other places. You should see the looks you get when driving it!  Might try to find some photos to share.

I own a shop in Beauly in the Scottish Highlands (pronounced the same as Beaulieu ) and have had people ask where the motor museum is. What can you tell them!

WEll I think you deserve at least a 30D.... But you might be willing to settle for a 400D.

See what happens, you lend your girlfriend your camera for the day, she takes some bl**dy good pics then all your mates on the forum gang up on you to buy her a camera

Heh I didn't need the forum to do it for me mate, took Sue to chester Zoo in July - my first proper DSLR outing, she had the sony point and shoot, she borrowed my camera and the first time she pressed the shutter button with it she had this:

http://www.mattcharlton.co.uk/lioness640.jpg

Less than a week later we had two 350D's.

I just can't have anything to myself ;)

Just get her a camera, its better in the long run, trust me :)

Well it might mean she stops calling MY camera HER camera and MY lenses HER lenses! I still think she should wait till her birthday though ;) I mean she might get bored of this photography lark yet

Great capture of the Silkcut Jaguar, often wondered what happened to those cars - and now I know :D

Rest are good to, but the Jag is my favourite
