Guys and Gals
If you take video using the 5D MkII, can you stop the playback and if you like the frame youre looking at, save it as a picture.
If you can, how do you do it, do you need special software?

ive got one but havent tried that...but most likely not...
you will need a software for it
You can do that with most video editing software. Even Windows Movie Maker will let you do that! Of course the resolution of the picture will be no more than 1920 x 1080

An editing software is your best option. If you're looking for something quick and dirty, VLC player will take a snapshot.
You'll be able to do that in-camera with the forthcoming Pentax K-7.
You can't do that in the 5d2, but what you can do is take a picture while recording. Taking a frame from the video would not result in the same quality as taking an actual shot in the camera.
