Not to worry, I have listed four programs that will help you sort out the little nasties..

Hijackthis is a must and totally free linky (http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html)

Then to get rid of that spyware use Spyware Blaster linky (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) again this is free.

Then there is a free trial of a Trojan removal tool available here (http://www.simplysup.com/tremover/download.html)

Then finally once sorted download and install Adaware from this linky (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html)

Hopefully that will help you get everything removed and things running back at full speed.

I'd recommend Adaware from www.lavasoft.com. There are several versions, the most basic of which is free. I now run Adaware Plus SE and Adwatch which don't cost very much considering the trouble that spyware can give. Try the free one, see how you get on with it, and upgrade to a better version if you like it. :)

EDIT/ And, as usual, Steve got there first.

Adaware used to be top of the heap, but the latest update seems to be a little old...

you might want to try spybot now as well. http://www.spybot.info/en/spybotsd/index.html
Can work alongside Adaware. Latest update weqas issued 28th Jan this year...

While we're at it, make sure your Anti-virus is up to scratch, that should be your first line of protection against real proper nasties such as trojans etc.

AVG7.0 from www.grisoft.com
Free and decent.

I wonder if they're trying to encourage people to upgrade to Adaware SE rather than running the free version. The latest definitions file for SE+ is dated 25 Jan 2005, so it's pretty up-to-date. The other advantage of this version is that Adwatch can run in the background and filter out the spyware before it lands on your machine.

could be, but there other products out there that are still free and updated regularly..

You could also try Microsoft AntiSpyware which is available in Beta testing form. I was a bit suspicious of it but tried it and it works very well indeed, managing to remove a nagging pest that was lurking on my machine even after I tried all the usual removal tools like Spybot and AdAware.
