View Full Version : Examples of Canon 50mm F1.8 lens used with Extension tubes.

With all the recent talk about the Canon 50mm F1.8 lens and extension tubes going on I though I would dig out some shots that I have taken with that combination. Below are three photographs that where shot with a Canon 10D on a tripod with mirror lockup and remote shutter release. All the images below are as is, so unedited or sharpened during post processing. I have removed one nasty that sneaked into frame added the borders and reduced the sizes for web but otherwise they are full frame shots to demonstrate what this lens and the extension tubes are capable of. If you need any more information please ask.

have you anything showing scale at max closeness ?

Here's another example using the same lens and brand of tubes.

52mm stacked approx 2.5" from subject.

This is the hologram from a £20 note.
No processing other than resize.

I haven't really had time to play with the tubes, but expect to see lots of insects this up and coming summer. :D
