I am looking at getting a Zoom lens ideal for studio portrait work.
Decisions decisions.
So far I have looked at the following:
Canon 24-70
Tamron 28-75
Sigma 24-70.
Are there any others I should be considering? If money was no object, which would you choose?

Quite a few recommend the Canon 70-200 (2.8 if moneys no object), optically its very high, and gives nice bokeh. But obviously this would depend on the size of your studio area.
The Canon 24-70 I would say is the best (and will also be the most expensive), but the Sigma 24-70 will probably be better value.
You sure you wouldnt prefer 2 or 3 primes like a 35mm, 50mm, 85mm ?

I already have the 50mm + 70-200. I was looking at 24-70 range so I could use it around the house also for the kids and as a general walkabout lens.
The money no longer scares me after buying the 100-400 about 6 months ago.

In which case I think you've just answered your own question. Canon 24-70L is the one to choose (unless you want 2+ lenses to cover that range..:))

Agree with Paul, I would get the 24-70L in that case.

I guess I knew the answer to this and had done some research in it. I just wanted to make sure others hadnt come across any Tokina or Tamron which outperformed the Canon.

Think the only way your going to beat the 24-70L is using primes, but for that your losing the flexibility that a zoom gives you.
The 24-70L is an outstanding lens in image quality and build quality and, despite its price your only paying for what your getting, which should be great results
The Tamron is very highly regarded, especially when money is an object.
For a comparison between it and the Canon L, you might want to read this:
