I see there is a video cable to directly view your 30D images to a PAL or NTSC video/TV. Can the camera be linked directly to a PC instead?

I think so (in that Im sure ou can, I just never gave it ago), you use the USB connection and is intended for the purpose of capture shots direct to you PC, the software that was supplied with your camera should allow this. Not sure if it works with shots on the card though, or if it only displays shots taken when connected to your PC.

The program that will work, if it any is EOS Capture

Only if your PC has a composite video input - you will then need software to capture the 'video'.

Alternatively, you may be able to connect direct to your monitor if you have a composite video input.

Dont forget that with a 30D you can remote shoot with the USB cable provided and with EOS utility / Camera Window
