Hi reading with great interest Dino F's thread on the 300mm F4 prime and a 1.4TC compared to a 400 F5.6 as below : great thread by the way :thumbs:

I don't think I saw the answer (appologies if so), but does the IS still work on the 300 F4 if you are using the 1.4 TC ??

Yes, it does on mine.

My 300 is non IS, but I'm almost certain a IS version still works with a 1.4x..

Then there's the debate about... Do you need IS when shooting at 1/800th + sec?? :thinking:;)
Good for shooting the props at slower speeds, but for fast jets??

Some people also claim ''it slows down the AF''? and have the IS turned off..

Some? ... You can actually hear the IS kicking into action while you wait for focus... it surely does slow AF down using IS
