This weekend we had a motorhome review to do, so the first time I used my Nikon D80 in anger. To say I'm chuffed to bits with the camera is an understatement!

The test itself went pretty pants actually. I spent the night with my head down the loo having picked up something in the sea kitesurfing, then the cab battery to our £46k motorhome was dead and the charger circuit failed, so we couldn't move the silly thing to a better place for pix! :bonk:

At least the weather was kind. A couple of pix follow. They're not that great for the reasons above, but they're OK.

I thought about drying off the motorhome in the first one, but decided that the dew added a bit of interest...

Cheers folks! :D

Hopefully next time I'll be feeling better and can be a bit more imaginative and original. It wasn't so great taking shots of an immobile camper while I was suffering. :puke:

But I'm so pleased with the quality of the camera. At first I was wondering if the outlay for a DSLR was 'worth it' over my old Fuji S7000, but already I see the answer is a resounding 'Yes'! This month Motor Caravan Magazine, next month House & Garden... well, maybe!

Is that your £46k campervan?? Or is it the one the magazine had you taking pics of for the day. *** if that is your van you coulda bought a lot more camera!!!

anyway they are well done shots of not a normal subject. Kudos.

It's the new Fiat Ducato base vehicle Joe. Bug-eyes are certainly en vogue with vans right now. I should know, I drive a Renault Trafic (to carry all my surf kit).

No, the £46k motorhome isn't mine! It belongs to the manufacturers. Interesting point: Because it is unregistered, the AA wouldn't come out and fix it. So I'm glad it didn't break down on the M25 when we were test-driving it on the magazine's trade plates.

It was a very nice piece of kit indeed, but I prefer to be able to unhitch my accommodation and zoom off in the van. If I had £35k I'd buy an Airstream...

Apparently the good makes like Merc & VW will only allow limited modifications to the chassis (and to licenced manufacturers only) and still support the vehicle via warranty so that's why so many motor homes are on fiats and citroens.

I want one though!
