This question is actually for my brother-in-law who has gone to the dark side and uses a Nikon D300 ;) (PC version, it felt right for him :D)
He is considering the Sigma 50-150 as a walk around with a bit of reach plus getting the Sigma 1.4TC as well.
Has anyone got experience with this lens and the combination with the TC. As soon as a TC is mentioned the question of Image Quality comes up but Id like to know if anyone has the answer.
I think most of his work is portrait and street photography. Any thoughts? or alternatives?

The lens is very good IMHO however I've read it's not the best when used with a TC.

It's a nice lens for portrait work, not too big or heavy, but not wide neough for mine ofr street (unless you're referring to candid portraiture rather than proper street)

love my 50-150, never had a tc on it but it is small for fast glass. id agree bit long for street but ok for candids as per northern nikon above.

i dont think he willregret getting it:thumbs:

I love mine. Small and lightweight compared to the 70-200 f2.8's. Wouldn't exactly call it a walkabout lens but very useful and exceptional value for £400 or so. I think BenWall on here used one with a 1.4x tele converter to good affect.

Yeah love mine, use it loads, is a cracking lens for the money, not used it with my TC though. Found it to be extremely sharp, my first use of it just put a smile on my face, these were all taken with it
