I don't now if this is the right section, but I'd really like this fixed before tonight!

(please note I don't know technical terms so I'm going to sound a bit silly :D)

I have a D80, the little square that you can see through the viewfinder that you move around to decide where you are focusing has stopped moving. Luckily it's in a pretty decent position, but I'd still like to be able to move it!

I'm shooting at Pendulum tonight which is the biggest gig I've done, so I really don't want to have to deal with this problem on the night!

Any help would be brilliant! Thank you :)

(This mysteriously happened after I let the last model I worked with play with my camera... Bad idea :|)

Just on the off-chance, have you moved the sliding switch to lock it?

You haven't knocked the lock switch under the d pad, this switch stops you being able to move the focus square around.

It will only move when metering is active (for a few seconds after half pressing the shutter), or as said it could be locked.

Check that it is not locked then try holding down the two buttons with the green dots next to them. This will reset everything. You'll probably then need to add your own settings again (it normally defalts to jpg that sort of thing).

It was locked :bonk::lol:

I must've tried every button on the camera except that one :p

Thank you :D

It's the sort of thing that can happen to us all. Good luck with your shoot.

Pendulum, lucky boy. Have you shoot any other dnb artists?

Nope, I haven't. The only stuff I've really done is mostly heavy metal. But there's just as much movement and jumping, so it should be fun! :D
