I'm after an inexpensive 77mm filter to protect my new Sigma 120-400, but need an opinion.

Is this Hoya 77mm UV Filter
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hoya-77mm-UV-Filter/dp/B00006H2FK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1246279832&sr=8-1

better, or worse than this Hoya 77 Economy UV Filter?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hama-Economy-UV-Filter-77mm/dp/B00006JB4M/ref=dp_cp_ob_ce_title_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1246279832&sr=8-1

Any idea which you'd choose, or would you go for something different?

Cheers!

I'd go for no filter! But that's a whole different school of thought

I used to believe in these, as many still do, but I have found my photos are far better without them. For protection, that's what the hood is for!

If you have to get one the Hoya Pro 1 filters are supposed to be good...

My opinion is that your £500+ lens deserves better than an £11 filter (or an £8) stuck on it....if you really feel the need, that is.
Value for money if you're going to spend it would proably a Hoya Pro 1D DMC UV (0) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hoya-PRO-1D-UV-72mm/dp/B000T4U9B2 (this one is 72mm but your lens may be a different size)
