It's coming up to that time of year when we all start making promises that we end up breaking.

Post them here and we will be your conscious.

Here we go ... I will start.

To start my wedding photography business
Give up smoking
Get fit
Change jobs

Quite a lot to do but if I can manage three of them I will be happy

Stop smoking
Lose weight
Get fit

Lose weight.
To stop drinking so much beer.
Get out with the camera more often.

I find the more specific you are the better!

- lose two dress sizes by April
-work out for 30 minutes 4x a week
-learn how to set up lighting for studio work (think Rob will be helping with that one in February)
-earn enough money with equine photography to afford 70-200 f2.8

Think that will be it for now.

 lose 2 and a half stone
save some money
spend more time with the kids and wife
learn more about the camara
get better bird shots.

:naughty: well ill try anyway

Get out more ... :p

ME that is ... :D

Cos it will ensure I do the other stuff I have had precious little time to do this past year ...

... Spend more quality time with my wife, Jill ...

... Dump some of the excess from not doing so for almost a year ...

... And use the expensive gear I bought to help me do all of the above ... amongst other things ... like taking photographs ...

Best of luck in yours ... I know I will not be as diligent as I should with most of mine ... :naughty:

:p

To take my camera with we where ever I go so that I don't miss the opportunity to get the shot I would otherwise miss.
lost count how many times in 2006 I said "if only I had my camera with me" :bonk:

For all those who wanted to quit smoking, a little tip.

I tried everything to quit, except for hypnotherapy or Zyban...Nothing I tried worked. Until I happened upon this book. It's a godsend

Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Allen-Carrs-Easy-Stop-Smoking/dp/0141026898/sr=8-1/qid=1167218056/ref=pd_ka_1/026-8441794-2953241?ie=UTF8&s=books)

I mentioned my main resolution in another thread ...

Must stop fixating on camera equipment (especially lenses - I have changed them so often I was thinking of changing my Forum Name to "Specsavers")
Get out more with camera
Lose a stone
Stop taking tablets for back pain (had surgery in May!)

Quit smoking. Alan Carr didn't work for me, apart from being an incredibly boring read. I think you need to be self-motivated and really want to do it. I packed in for a year once and found it remarkably easy tbh, then started having the odd 'social' fag, which of course bolloxed me up completely. :D

To improve the quality of my photo's (that should hopefully be a lot easier next year with all the hints and tips I have learnt from here)

To learn photoshop so that my post processing is more than just adjusting the brightness!

To spend more time with family and friends rather than at work!

My list is sooo long

#1 Gain weight
#2 Start smoking
#3 See less of my loved ones
#4 Stop selling photographs
#5 ignore photo opportunities
and finallly

#6 stop telling so many porkies! :D

Actually my list is simple and if I can stick to it all will be well; Be less selfish, agree more, look after myself but not worry about a few pounds, let my kids tell ME what I am doing wrong, oh and along the way ....keep taking photos!

No doubt by December 31st I will have a more refined version but that will do for starters.:)

IanC_UK

on1) Save money - this is going to be a really tough one! Someone slap me if I say I'm buying any more lens.

2) Learn Spanish

3) Go to Spain - this will contradict 1) above.

4) Compile 12/13 photos for my own calendar for 2008.

5) to work on my badminton back hand shot (it's really lame at the moment) and my fore hand lobbing from one end of the court to the other end. I can just about get one end of the court to about more 2/3rd of the way on the other half.

2. See more of my Mum

Not so much resolutions as goals:

1) Stop getting sick - stress fracture in 2006 has me off my feet for months and now the bloody ulcer - so assuming I live long enough then...

2) 2007 is the year of turning pro. Already got a couple more jobs lined up and some things on the boil and I know it's up to me to get out there and make it happen.

Should post this as a sticky - A reminder to all !! There was a great thread on Mens Health about a fella determined to lose about 5 stone over a year and the thread as well as being a hilarious read, became a huge motivation to others... We should post weight loss photo's every week - OK, step to far !!

Sure I answered one of these, must have been someone elses thread

Basically to be more motivated - to get out more and do things, instead of erring on indecision and then not bothering, missed soo many opportunities from being a lazy git recently :(
