Went with my oldest to the dirt jumps today and practised a bit of off-camera flash. Good fun!

Paul

Save your money and buy pocket wizards. They are radio controlled rather than infra red and will work at any angle (frustratingly best shots are usually unachievable outside with a ST-E2). I tried the cheap slaves on Ebay but they are a waste of money - seriously!

Once set up use manual settings. My flash was set to 1/2 power. Set shutter to max synch, dial in aperature for flash then adjust ISO and reduce shutter speed to balance into background. Works more reliably than auto settings.

Never tried that but it's very effective, might just give it a go with the crossers sometime, good tips
