Hi,

Just wondering why this hasn't been invented? Surely it would just be a case of roughly lining up composition to assess where the camera will be, removing camera and aiming the body towards that place, with camera next to the subject and taking a reading...

How long does everyone reckon before this actually happens? Surely they could become as accurate as a Sekonic etc. so that shouldn't be an issue

I don't think it will happen.

Technology is generally used to make things easier. Which is what matrix metering (and its Canon equivalent) does.

Not sure it will happen. Must be technically feasible and yet it has not happened.
I'd welcome it. Save me fiddling about with my tiny Sekonic.

It's dead easy to take an incident reading a with a DSLR. You can do it with some kind of invercone if you like, there are several versions for sale, but you can do it off an 18% grey card or just the palm of your hand if you like.

But with very clever matrix metering and histograms to guide us, it's not really necessary.
