I'm kind of bored of O2 at the moment - there are much better deals out there at the moment than I'm getting with my current contract...

I'm looking at T-Mobile with a Nokia E61 on one of their Flex-T plans. Does anyone have any experience of them - wrt coverage, reliability, etc?

Thanks

If your on a post payment contract with O2 and your now out of your contract period, give them a ring. I was paying £20 a month for me XDA IIs, but when the 12 month contract ended I phoned them and said that I was quite happy with the unit and didn't want to change it, but didn't want to carry on paying £20 a month. Got a reduced call rate, £6 a month rental and a £70 credit. That should just about make the phone free for a year :D :D

I have been and still have a contract with o2 and find their service excellent but then found out about T-Mobile WnW.

I got a Vario 2 handset that can access ADSL internet at up to 1.8Mbps..

I went for the Flex 35 package which gives 900 X-network free minutes and also 24/7 internet per month. Its great when you are out and about for checking emails and browsing the net..

there's no such thing as 'free' minutes. They are inclusive, paid-for, minutes. And you pay for them whether you use them or not.

i don't like mobile phones. i find them an excuse for poor time management and hearing most of the conversations which take place on them dull.
anyone else not gotta mobile?

Same phone here but on the Flex 25 but 1/2 price as a mate works for them

WnW + Vario2 = end to boredom on train journeys :naughty:

Right. Firstly, someone is asking for advice on tarrifs and network coverage, not your opinion on the way in which they are used and their implications on how people run their lives.

Secondly, how does your reply help the thread? It doesn't, and no one cares if you like mobile phones or not. So please, stop trolling and actually be a little more constructive.

As for the OP, I personally am on Orange, but I feel they can be a little pricey sometimes... However, network coverage is fine for me. WetSparks raised a good point though. Give them a call and see what price they can give you now your initial contract period is over :)

I've got two, one personal and one for work.

They're useful. I use mine for time management as they have calendars, to-do lists, note taking features, etc. I used to carry a notepad, but now I don't have to.

Both phones are on t-mobile, an MDA Vario II (excellent) and a Blackberry of some sort (good for what it does.)

Both are very good as organisers, calendars, e-mail clients and such. The MDA has a better choice of software, and is smoother to browse the internet due to the touchscreen. Neither are spectacularly good as phones, they're a bit too clunky. I'd have to carry a phone and a PDA to get the functionality I want though, so I'm willing to make that sacrifice. I think the E61 is comparable with the blackberry in this regard.

If you just want to make phone calls and don't care about anything else, get a decent nokia, they don't tend to go wrong and will do most of what you want. Motorolas and Sony Ericssons tend to be a little clunky, or have wangy software. On the flip side, some Sony Ericssons have excellent cameras built in, and could be a substitute for carrying a compact around with you. The camera on the Vario II is awful.

Network coverage is acceptable, high speed internet availability is excellent (in London, Essex and Herts at least.) Customer service is excellent for the business side of things, never had to deal with their retail side (my personal mobile is on a business contract.)

Third. The thread is 18 months old. Could the reply *be* any more pointless?

Personally ive found T mobile network to have poor coverage in certain areas but Orange is by far the worse coverage wise!

First thing I would do is check your coverage in your area and then look at the deals!

It all depends what you use the phone for mostly and what type of phone you would benefit from. I Work with phones / PDAs all day (that’s my job) and so I do know certain things on them. If you need a PDA like blackberry or a windows mobile device for getting emails on the move I strongly recommend the HTC Diamond touch which will be out soon or a Blackberry Curve. There so easy to use and great to use. If you don’t need a PDA etc then a simple phone will do – don’t go for Motorola or Samsung IMO as there dog crap and break…………………………….!

Its all personal Taste im afraid!

Tariff side of things I was looking myself as im due a upgrade soon ( and I will not renew with the carphone warehouse even if they offer me 3 busty bi women with no holes barred! ) and ive actually found O2 and Tmobile to be the best. Because of coverage issues – ill be staying O2 but going for O2 online

HTH
