Need a low-midrange zoom primarily for shooting cars and motorsport, with some general shooting also. No portrait work.

Is the 28-135 worth the extra £100 in terms of image quality or is it any faster focusing? Any other suggestions? I need something a little longer than the more common 2X-70mm ideally.

Had a search for both these lens and can't seem to find much on here on either.

Justed sold the 28-105 for an 28-135 which I will receive soon.
I will compare some pictures and let you know my opinion.

I have never used the 28-105 but i do use the 28-135 and i really like it. Very nice pictures and fast focussing.

I've a cracking example of the 28-135 and am very pleased with it - don't forget, it also has the IS which can be a godsend on occasions

Owned both and the 28-105mm II is the better lens IMO. Nice, handy walkaround with good IQ and AF. The 28-135 IS is more than showing its age with poor IS and mediocre image quality. Definitely over-priced for what you get. You probably much better with one of the fast 17-50 type lenses, such as the Tamron. if you need more at the long end then the 28-105mm.
