Can anyone tell me why Canon lenses are white? It seems a bizarre colour to have on long telephotos when a lot of them are used for wildlife shots.

Now theres some real lenses - as opposed to the milk bottle and jam jars in that other thread :D
Reason they are white is supposed to be to lessen the effects of heat on the lens elements through expansion and contraction when in strong sunlight and rising temperatures that this would bring - thats the official line anyhow.

I did not have time to put it with my other ones as it's set up in the back yard. :lol:
60K Sterling maybe a little over priced as they were only $89K as new. The Tripod is part of the lens by the way.

The reason Nikkor lenses are black is so you can fill the boot of your car with them & the local pond life don't notice them & screw your car for them!
