I thought it was an eye too from the description but from the photo it could be anything. Do we get another slightly more in focus picture if we don't guess it right?

That was a great thread idea. The idea that it's the most important thing in the kitchen threw me though - I don't even drink tea or coffee :p

That was it. It started off as a competition entry or something, he beggared the focus up and thought "Hmmm how can I make use of this and make it look deliberate"
