Bored in work so I decided to do a quick comparison of some lenses, this test I by no means scientific its just some photos take in my works store room of toner boxes!!!!

The lenses are ( this is the order I thought to myself what would be the best before doing the test)

Nikon 50mm f1.4 (it’s a prime so it should win this test and its stopped down from the rest)
Nikon afs 17-55 f2.8
Tamron 28-75 f2.8
Tamron 17-50 f2.8 (this is last because its at its full zoom and normally lenses don’t perform very well there.)

All photos were taken on a d50, tripod, 1/250, iso400, jpg, flash – no process was done apart from the crop

This is the full picture – ( very interesting err!!)

The next 4 are 100% crops shot at f2.8 (not taken in the order above)

No idea why this one is brighter than the rest:shrug:

Which lens do you think each one is then:thinking:

I like your style! its clever making us guess.

Are you taking them all at 50mm? If so its not exactly fair to compare the optics of one lens at the edge of its zoom to one in the middle of its range.

To be honest you show that there is not much in it except for Lens number 3 which is shocking but I'm guessing that is the tamron 17-50 stretched to 50mm?

I'm going to guess that lens 4 is the f1.4 with a slight miss calibration and that is why it is brighter

So I think that lens two is the 17-55 as it picks up more of where the blue ink has rubbed off

Leaving lens one as the Tamron 28-75!

How did I do?

I guess Lens 4 would be the 50mm 1.4

Lens 1 is 17-55mm F2.8
Lens 2 28-75mm
and Lens 3 is 17-50mm

I'm surprised No 3 doesnt show the see through print to the left of the HP logo.

(goes to grab HP box and Nikon 17-55 and Tamron 17-50 ( 28-75 is away at the menders)to do similar tests!!)
