I'd say not yet, the times and days you've given assume a very fast bank transfer and if either of the banks involved isn't on the fast transfer scheme then your being a bit fast

No, it'll take up to Friday due to banks being utterly useless at passing money between them. As with cheques allow 3 full working days to clear. They SHOULD do it overnight now, but many still aren't as they accumulate interest off the money while they have it.

Should they be aloud to make all that money off us?

Banks are a rip-off
transferred a large sum from bank 1 deposit to bank 2 deposit, took 2 hours.
Transferred a slightly smaller sum from bank 2 deposit to bank 2 savings last Wednesday, still hasn't arrived
edit:
Sorry, just realised today is Thursday, that was last week's Wednesday. Both transactions were online

I'd have thought it was a bit early to be worrying. I ordered a 5D from Ian on Tuesday but I expect the bank transfer to take 3 to 5 days and Ian obviously won't dispatch until the transfer is confirmed. If I receive mine early next week I'll be very happy. :)

Having dealt with Ian before when he supplied my 70-200 2.8 I wouldn't be concerned.

I think the only way to have guaranteed this would have been to pay via PayPal and accept the additional 1.5% handling fee.

yeah im not really concerned about being scammed as I've used him before too. I was just putting too much faith in getting it by Saturday.

Sent him an email asking if it comes in today he would be able to send it out today however im off out soon for the rest of the day.
I guess I cant do anything about it or speed it up, it just means I have to try and find another camera body as a back up, all in 2 days..

Personally I'd be a bit nervous about relying on your brand new 5D as a backup anyway.

Maybe it would be preferable to find a 400d on loan which you no doubt know backwards and have the comfort of knowing that you can seamlessly switch if required? Just a thought. Depends how new the 5D Mk2 is to you. I'm expecting it to be quite some transition even though I'm only going from a 5D Mk1.

its more the lens that is coming with it that I was really needing.
I figured I would have a couple days to get used to using the basic functions of it.

Ah, I see.

Bodywise, I was reading this review just yesterday which compares the use of 5D Mk1 and Mk2 and it occurred to me that simply dropping the Mk1 and carrying on seamlessly with the Mk2 wouldn't be quite so straight forward.

Bank transfer will be instant (or very max two hours but over 99% are instant) if sent as a faster payment, some banks offer this service, some do not, and some pick and choose when they use it depending on how much money/liquidity they have at the time you send.

If it does not go via faster payment then it will go via bacs, this takes 3 days including the day it is sent but has quite an early cut off with some banks. If you send late on Monday and it went on the Tuesday it will have arrived today in the destination account.

Hope this helps.

Michael.

Hi Richard,

How did you get on with the mkII at your wedding? Did you use it or keep it as backup? Interested to know how you got on with it.

Andy.
