Playing with your toys again?
You certainly have the knack for making them look a full size real car.'Great work.

Absolutely, not the first lot I've had a double take at to make sure it's not the real thing :)

Nice shots there Kris

I have a load of these models in the loft.....it might be time to get them out :D

Love the motion blur on the last one :)
Are you going to run through the set up, so us lesser snappers can steal your technique :D

Remember the WHSmiths card ? well 5 sheets of that making up a cube, then using the two Ikea lamps (which I covered in white paper). Cleaned the car, then loads of trial and error.

Oh and a couple of them has a couple of bits of A4 dropped around the shot to add fill in.

Cheers for the comments guys. its appreciated.

First one is the best. The others I spotted that it was a model.

Wish my boredom would nudge my creativity in the right direction right now!

For me the only real give away is the fact the tyres aren't flat at the bottom as a real car would be. I have a fair few models myself I think I'll have to give it a go some time too.
I reckon you ought to send copies of your shots to model car manufacturers. If they don't sign you up to photograph their models for advertising/catalogues they are mad.

Think i'll have to try this too as my model car collection is growing all the time :D

VERY inspirational shots and as most have already stated the first one can catch out even a petrolheads eye at first glance :D

Many thanks for the comments, I just cant wait to find a studio big enough to try this on real cars!

What did you use? What lens and lighting?

I have some I would like to take and was thinking of either a macro lens or some extension tubes.. The tubes look like a good idea then I can use any lens..

I have also always had trouble with lighting.. But then I don't own an extra flash, just what's on the 350D.

Great shots by the way..

Hi Scott, these ones were taken with a 30D and a 17-40mm F4 lens.

Lighting does not have to be expensive, please see the thread below, these lights were £8 each from Ikea

Cheers for the comments

oh, forgot to add, the background is simply A2ish card from WHSmiths at about 75p each.
