Hi all, me again.

First of all if the moderators deem this to be in the wrong place (I apologise :)) or worse not within the spirit of the forum feel free to move it to wherever it should be or delete as neccessary. (I don’t know if it deserves a sticky, see what you think).

OK I’m ready to start my next huge motorsport undertaking and on the back of the awesome amount of support I've received from you guys I’d like to involve the community.

This was the last bit of work that got serious C&C from you guys:
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2552/3797064941_9685bf163c_o.png

I’d like to offer the community the opportunity to submit their most poignant motorsport photos, for example Valentino Rossi, Richard burns, Colin McRae, Nigel Mansell, Andy Priualx or whoever you think of as a motorsport icon.

I intend to create another painting based on one of your photos and post up the WIP intermittently until it’s done (the last one took months so this is not going to be a flash in the pan thing).

Once we’ve had a few submitted I'd ask the community to choose which one gets the treatment.

I intend to print a dual signed (mine and the original photographer) limited edition run of 50 A1 prints for sale with #1 going to whoever submitted the chosen photo as a reward (and a reduced rate option for anyone who submitted). This is solely open to the talk photography community.

I need to stress that this must be your own photo (after the fun times I've had with Getty) so don’t trawl the LAT or Sutton Archives. You also agree that your photo can be used as reference for the painting and nothing else, The image may be modified slightly due to artistic licence I will not retain or redistribute the photo once the painting has been finished.

Submit to the normal TP rules strictly one photo per member at the max 800px wide so the community can see it properly (so choose the one your most happy with, stick a title in there to so we can see why you posted it), however the original photo will need to be a high enough res that I can use it as a reference for the painting.

Hopefully some of you will be interested in this, let’s see what kind of response we can get. I look forward to seeing what you can come up with.

Thanks in advance

Sorry Matt but without the story I wouldn't have a clue who was sitting in that car. It could be your mum for all I know. You must have a million photos where the driver/rider is recogniseable.

Yeah but no one that famous TBH. Will have another search

dosnt need to be "famous" as such, think saleable... a decent shot of bradley smith would work just as well as one of Alain Prost.

If the subject matters not too niche itll work... :) I know uve got loads Matt

i like the idea of the machine being involved or being the subject alone... dosnt just have to be a portrait of the rider/driver/team member

How about looking for a photo of Henry Surtees to do one from... I think that would be a good tribute...

That's a good idea... If there are photos out there let's see... Seems only matts up for a submission :)

I think maybe a tribute to Colin McRae would be nice but sorry I have no pics

A Colin Mcrae one would be but Surtees is more 'on topic' without wanting to sound disrepectful.

Perhaps as something a bit different, this guy:

http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/00MC9Yw6f340g/610x.jpg

Legend in his own right, just not that well known out of America understandably. But told by Schumacher himself that he wanted him to be his team mate one day.

The legend that is Mr.Nascar Jeff Gordon

I'm liking all suggestions so far...even the jef gordan out of left field.....
However the idea for this project was for you guys to post your photos :)
I can search out my own easily enough but I'd rather work with you guys on this.... Let's see some of your work

Hi there,

Not really done alot of driver shots however David and Godfrey Jones both sum up the spirit of GT racing for me as they are always great competitors, usually run at the front of the field and although their car (Ascari) is not as mainstream as perhaps a Ferrari F430 they continue to turn out year after year. Both thoroughly nice guys as well.

Heres one from me: -

How about the legend that is Giaccomo Agostini?
This is a recent shot of him taking his MV Agusta around Brands Hatch recently. I know its not the sharpest shot, but.......

suppose its too late now, but here is my contribution anyhow, Nick Tandy embracing after his first F3 win at Rockingham, about a week or so after older brother Joe was tragically killed in a car crash, a very poignant shot me thinks.

Probably too late as ive only just joined the forums but have this one of Mansell sitting in the pit garage during the Silverstone weekend of the GP Masters 2006. I had to pinch myself to believe I was right on the nose of his car looking dead straight at my hero from back in the day!
