The Nikon absolutely knocks spots off the other two. If you can't run to the Nikon version, don't bother and stick with a multiple-lens setup.

I've just got one and it's great (for a noob like me). There's one for sale in the classifieds http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=154100

I like mine, I don't use it for work but when on holiday it's a great walk about due to the range. I do miss having a wider aperture and the IQ can sometimes disappoint but for the cash it does well

I've used both and certainly don't reckon the Nikkor is worth the £250 extra. Sure, the Nikkor is slightly faster at the long end and the VR is supposed to be a little more effective, but in the real world the Sigma holds its own (and it's better built too).

Don't bother paying over the odds - buy the Sigma and only use it when you HAVE to, as whether it's Sigma or Nikkor there'll always be compromise...

I guess then if you have the money then go for the Nikkor?

I bought a Sigma 18-200 for Nikon when Jesopps were flogging them for £99 back in January. I probably got one of the famous Sigma lemons but it was a poor lens.

I got a Sigma 18-200 for £110 in Jessops last week, very happy with it. The pictures are good enough for me, but obviously different people have different standards but the extra would not be worth it for me as the pictures do for my purpose and it is a nice lens, no troubles with it at all so far.

Fo a wide/tele its good.

However if you've got other lenses that give better quality you wont use it. Got one with the d300 and used it up to the point of getting a 105macro.

I also have a tokina 11-16. Which is now competing against the 105.

I found the 18-200 to be slightly soft on the pictures. Still adequate, but not quite what I was expecting (could be me *** - picky!)
