Got woken up this morning at around 6am by my other half to drive her into work, imagine how I felt when I took a look out of the window and noticed it was chucking it down with rain.... Lovely!

Driving along the M8 in the peeing rain I suddenly realized exactly what would make this horrid journey that little bit sweeter... Lens shopping!

Dropped the lady off, nipped back home for a shower and headed for town. After posting a thread about getting my first prime lens, I was set on getting the nikkor 50mm f1.4G (£299 in the shops, ouch!)

I took a stroll passed jessops and suddenly felt my body gravitate through the shop door and before I knew what was going on I was leaving jessops as the proud owner of a 50mm f1.8 AND a tamron 70-300mm

It's only now that I realize my body went into auto pilot and was in cahoots with my wallet because instead of spending almost £300 on a single lens, I walked away with 2 cracking lenses and 2 uv filters for £270.... result!!!

So you overcame your MF fears then?

Came to the conclusion that I won't improve as a photographer if I rely on AF all the time, and I must say, mf not half as scary as I thought. Loving the 50mm and to cap of my day, my camera beanbag just got delivered :D

Is good to shop!!! :)

Will be interested to hear how you get on with the MF on the 50mm mate. I just could not get used to the manual focus on my D40 when I had it and kept missing good shots of my son and as I said to you before I ended up swapping and getting a 35mm AF-s, the width of the 35mm suited me more also.

Happy shooting!!
