View Full Version : Would a Nikon 80 - 200 F2.8 AF D auto focus on a D40/x or D60?
The Nikon 80 - 200 F2.8 AF D is a a lens I'd like to get and if so I'd use it a lot. I have been considering the D40, D40x and D60. Now my question is, would this lens auto focus on these cameras? Thanks in advance.
Google could answer this for you pretty quickly. ;)
For a Nikon lens to auto-focus on a D40/D40x/D60 or D5000 it will need AF-S. AF-D will not auto-focus on those bodies.

Apart from that, it would be a tad nose heavy

Exactly. A real hot rod. That's what I like about this kind of combo.

You like camera/lens combos that are awkward to use? :suspect:

You're right of course. Obviously hadn't thought it through. It'll have to be a D200 to balance it out.

If the lens was screwed to a tripod it wouldn't be awkward to use ;)

I use the D60 with the sigma 100-300 f/4 and have no trouble
I don't understand comments on small bodies and heavy lenses, weak arms maybe
:D
