Hi folks, finally bought myself a Sony A200, been looking around at various different manufacturers for months now and decided to go with my origional choice...the A200

Got it for the bargain price of just £190 new reconditioned including postage off 'flea bay' just waiting for it to arrive now....Yay!!!
I could'nt resist it as i was expecting paying around the £300 mark for a good first shooter!! It was from Argos-clearancebargains and allthough it says reconditioned in the listing there were over 40 of these when i first saw the posting, im guessing that it is just the boxes that have been damaged or marked....either way its got 12 months gaurantee!!

Ican finally start taking some real pictures and being a little creative.....i cant wait!!!:):)

I'm sure you'll love it.

I've had mine for about 3 months and smitten (well until the funds become available for a 700......;))

Yeah i could'nt beleive it when i saw the price!!
I know im going to need a memory card for it but does it come with a basic one in the box??
There are so many types of memory available atm..which one does the A200 take??
I dont want it to turn up and me not be able to use it because iv not got any memory for it...

congrats on joining the Alpha crowd.

pay the postage & I'll send you a 1Gb CF - it won't be the fastest but it will work.

sorry but there'll be a big hole in the camera where you can fit a compact flash card (these are the quickest, but you can get micro-memory stick and an adaptor, but it's not advised), i've got 8gb sandisk extreme III CF in mine, to future proof 9hopefully). only 35 quid from amazon, and it lets me shoot away like an idiot all day.

but for now take up heidfirst's offer to get you going.

and welcome also to planet alpha :D

Great camera imo. I have the a 300. The best price i can find for the a200 at the moment is £260 at argos with the kit lens. Or £340 at argos with kit lens plus a sony dt 55-200 lens

My first A300, Looking at either the 700 or 900 now, just not sure if I can justify a 900.

did you say it came with a lens ??

hope so anyway had mine for nearly a year now and its great!!! i love it , get your self some minolta lens 50mm 1.7 on flea bay or if you budget is tight you can get a m42 adaptor you can just about get any old lens to fit you will have to focus yourself but it does teach you a thing or 2
good look

It's a great first camera to learn on. Had mine with twin lens kit for almost a year and got great satisfaction from it.
Sold it last week on Ebay for 400 quid to fund my Canon 500D though

shame that you didn't wait to see what is being announced shortly.

Yeah, isn't an a850 () due out in a few days??!

I'd be gutted if I'd just bought a 500D:lol:

Seriously, the a200 is a great piece of kit in the right hands. Shame my hands are the photographic equivalent of Gordon Brown.......

I've been waiting almost 2 years for an a500! Christmas might be coming early in my house, I just hope they don't price it above the a700 deals out there at the moment. Bet they do........

Sorry OP, going a bit off topic here!!

that would be the norm (for Canon, Nikon etc. too) - give it 3 months & it should drop 25% on the street.
