I've been playing with CDs

http://premium1.uploadit.org/chrismartin00//cd1.jpg

I'm using a mini tripod in this case, and I think i'm not getting them sharp enough.

How does the above image look to you guys?

I'm sure i've done better, i love the colours, but the droplets just don't seem right to me.

Any critique gratefully recieved :)

Edit:

This awas taken handheld a few days ago ;

Better or what?

I'm wondering it it could be mirror slap?

Use mirror lockup on the 10D and remote release cable or timer activation if you don't yet have the remote release cable.

I was using manual focus with these, and the self timer.

I fired a few off using MLU but with no cable release the results were the same.

I *think* it must be vibration causing this as when i did them handheld at least part of the image is sharp.

Thanks again steve :)

Must use a heavy (not mini) tripod and lock the mirror - use a cable release or the camera's self-timer if you haven't got one.
Then manually stop down to the minimum aperture and aim off slightly - the focus goes slightly out at extreme close up - that's why lenses with a macro facility sometimes have a seperate focussing scale...
