Can I use old mayonet mount lenses on a new Olympus E420 DSLR?

Please help me ASAP as really need to buy camera soon and I dont understand too much about lens fittings.

If by that you mean can you fit old OM fit lenses (the lenses for Olympus film cameras) onto four thirds (E 420) cameras, the answer is yes.
But you need an adaptor.

The Olympus adaptor is very dear I believe, but you can get a cheap one of E-Bay.

Beware though,as the cheapo might not give you all the functions that the Oly one would.

IE auto focus, metering etc.

The problem I have is I dont know what make the old camera is.

All I know is that its my dads, its an old manual wind on camera. Probably from the 80s or if not earlier.

And that the lenses are screw lenses, and now digital slr take bayonet lenses?

And I want a screw to bayonet adapter.

Thats basically what my dad said, and I'm baffled!

They are probably M42 screw fitting.
