I thought I'd let you all know why I haven't been around much this week.
We're moving house this saturday, and I've been at the new house decorating, or packing things up, or out and about getting everything sorted.

We've been here for 11 years, so this is my first "Grown up" house move as I like to call it  I never realised there's soooooo much to do.

Anyway, also, my internet is going to be cut off for a short while too. Now I'm hoping to keep a toe in by popping to the library, or to friends houses, or maybe even borrowing a neighbours wifi connection (after I ask them nicely of course), but it means I wont be around for my normal level.

I've had a few PM's today and yesterday which I've had to forward on to Matty as I really didn't have the time to deal with them, but you all deserved a reply, it would have been rude of me not to get them dealt with.

Just to let you know if, after tomorrow, you PM or email me and don't get a reply...that's why :)
While I have my connection, I'll forward anything onto Matty or digitalfailure to deal with....as much as I can.

So I leave you in their capable hands :)
Hoping to be back, moved in, decorated, and all sorted with a new phone line and broadband installation roughly around the 5th Feb, all being well :)

Toodles! (Although won't be going for about 2 days I dont think....gonna make this computer the last thing to be packed up :D)

I don't think you should use the term 'swimmingly' Rog. If I remember correctly that's one of the main drivers for Marcel and family moving ;)

Hope it sorts itself out and you all settle in ok!

dude its a very sad day when you loose your net connection, i feel for you.

When we moved last year i paid for the net here to be ready the day we moved :D

Good luck on the move mate, though i'm sure you wont need it though and all will be fine.
Just be ready with the bottles of coke or lucozade as your gonna need plenty of energy on the day ;)

Been there, done that, and what an awful feeling it is ;)

Hope all goes well with the move. It's at this time that you never quite realised exactly how many belongings you actually have, and why you even kept half of the rubbish you find

Marcel Im sure we will all be thinking of you this weekend. Its always very exciting to be moving to pastures new ... and oh so demanding!

Just a little word of advice, make sure you find the time to pop to the P.O & have all your mail forwarded to your new addy.
I didnt bother with this as I thought just informing everyone I knew was good enough ... how naive of me.

The new tennants that moved into my old property used my surname to obtain a grands worth of goods from different catalogues. The finance company of one catalogue happened to be the finance company of one of my credit cards, my credit history was then linked to a person that didnt exist & the bills began being forwarded to me at my new addy.
I reported the fraudulent identity to the police, & when I got all my credit details from Experion, it turned out the new tenants had created two identities using my surname to obtain goods.
Luckily I had my termination of tenancy letter to prove I was no longer there when they started it.

Dont want to worry you unnecessarily with this but, wouldnt want to see a damper put on your new start ... oooh damper..... did I just make a funny! :coat:

Exact same thing happened to my sister. It was only when the postman reported it that she became aware, as all this mailorder stuff kept arriving in my sisters name and the postie knew she didn't live there anymore.

All the best with it Marcel. All I can offer in the way of advice is get on and get the boxes unpacked ASAP as otherwise in a few years you'll STILL have some that the contents haven't seen the light of day since you got there! We'd unpacked everything within a week of moving in and I'm seriously glad we did!

Marcel
18-01-2007, 22:37
Hehe Thanks for the kind words everyone.

Been decorating mostly today (and ferrying some boxes back and forth too).

All the flooring has been taken up in the flat, and the underlay, ready to lay in the house...The living room in the house is 'almost' decorated, kitchen is ready...kids bedroom #1 is painted, ours is painted, just need to decorate now (will do that once we're in).

Looking at around teatime tomorrow will be the big turnoff time I think (Im REALLY gonna miss my internet)....as I need to get the flooring packed up in this room too, and the desk too.

It's amazing how much crap you accumulate over the years, and how much crap a 2 bedroom flat can hold :D

All moved in today...house upside down, and half unpacked, but importantly, beds are made, kids are fast asleep in theirs and pizza is on order...

Well, we're in the house...been in there a week now. Living room is complete (save for one curtain hook and some flooring skirting which I cant put down until BT install the phone line.)

We've all settled in brilliantly, kids sleep fine every night (as do we), feels like we've lived here for years for some reason.

All curtain things and what not are up...just need to decorate and floor the upstairs now....

No internet connection sucks (borrowing a friends ATM), but at least I've had the chance to clear out 50 gigs worth of DV footage off my HD onto backup discs.... hehe

Now all I need to do is sort my car out :'( (Will start another thread on that in a mo).

Hope everyone is well! :)
