Has anyone used them before?
I'm guessing I need to order the BP-511A over the BP-511 for my 30d?
Cheers,

Looks good to me Neil - not bought many non-Canon branded, but those i have have been just as good so far as i can tell.
Wondering why I bothered getting up for this utter shambles. The Loye started well but nothing since. Arse!!!!! :bat:

I bought a two of these from ebay USA ..... two for £7.36

They seem just as good as the original one I got with the camera.
I'm using the 7dayshop ones in my 20D

Don't know what the 'A' signifies. My 20D battery is a 511A and the 7dayshop ones work fine.
I am just wondering whether it works the other way as well, Whether or not the 20d or 511 works in a 30d, if so, then 7 day shop do 2x511 for a tenna !!

arse arse arse - least we got 6 wickets tho........
Not sure about the batteries mate - always gone for the 'a' version. Mind, 2 for a tenner...... gotta be worth a try?
Hang on, maybe the a is about milli watt hours? If so, just means 1 carries more oomph than the other - in which case no problem
I had a feeling that might be the case, got to be worth a punt for a £10
7 day shop ones are superb. Last easily as long as my proper Canon one, and even the D30 which normally chews through batteries like they're going out of fashion runs for a reasonable time on them.
I found this with a Google search....
"Canon's BP-511A has a higher capacity than their BP-511 (1390 mAh vs 1100mAh); they can be used interchangeably."
I got a couple from ebay for 1p plus shipping from China rated the same as the 511a and work great.

Good searching - Much obliged - 7 day shop here I come !
Yes I too have non Canon batteries (2 Canon and 2 non-Canon). I can't tell the difference.
