Would it be an idea to try and sort a TPF meet for this one??

Dates are as follows Sunday 25th - Wednesday 28th February
10-6pm Sunday, Monday, Tuesday - 10-5pm Wednesday
If you pre-registar it is free to get in (see the site for T&C on Pre-Reg)
If you go as Joe Public it is £6.00 entry.
Parking at the NEC is £7.00 all day

Depends what day everyone is going of course ... but a meet could be cool!
Well it run Sunday to Wednesday, so thought Sunday might be best?
i might be up for this. should be able to get some good discounts on kit hopefully:)

Canon didn't go last year either... Its still an amazing place though with plenty to see (and spend!)
I'm supposed to be at Excel on the 25th/26th but if the Sunday (25th) is most convenient, I might be able to swing it so that its just the 26th at Excel.

Yep lots of discounts etc...VAT free deals that sort of thing. It was my first time there last year and I thought it was a great day out, trouble is your wallet will be a lot lighter when going home I guarantee :lol: :'(
To give an example I got a manfrotto carry bag for my tripod and a head to go on my monopod both @ VAT free prices, I was looking to buy a 24-105mm L while there, I did find some going as low as £600 almost but I didn't take the plunge, instead I got it in June for £700 and that was a good price at the time as they were like hens teeth. So I would have been better off getting it @ Focus. Hay ho.

Actually we used to do this on another site I belonged to. Everyone would wear a badge with the site logo on and their alias. In the early days it'd be quite funny as youd forget you were wearing the badge and some woman would dive on you from the crowd, locking you in a bear hug.
It'd take a second or two for the penny to drop, lol!
We could always turn the show badge over & scribble TPF in black marker on it ... or wear a carnation and carry a newspaper of course!:D

I've been thinking about going to this but haven't decided yet. I'm driving home to Doncaster on the 25th anyway, so go right past Birmingham. A quick detour would be quite easy. The only thing is, I have everything I want for my camera right now :D
you can always find something you need, come on Min it'll be a good day out, plus it will break up the journey home for you very nicely. :)

If the politzei allow me to pass into the great unknown that is the midlands, there's no reason why I can't get there.
I have nothing I want to buy for my camera kit either min, but i'm hoping that I can glean some info on lighting and printing from some of the stands......i might even see if i can hide an A3 printer in Glo's handbag :lol:
Oh.......BTW.......mind the doors we're off to the top :)

Double_Agent and myself will be going on the Sunday. Will be with the wife so I have more hands to carry bits away with....
Well I'm either gonna be there flying solo @ 10am or if i can Break sorry twist Kirsties arm she'll be in tow may even drag pops in law along if he's finished shooting, so would then land around 12-1pm. I'll keep you posted.

I dont think they will asking for proof off everyone... it would be quicker to queue up and pay to get in.
Many years since I last went, but I think you just collect your badge on the way in.

Took my cam and 1 lens 24-105 cause you get a few photo ops of very nice ladies doing modeling.

Yeh, I'll probably stick my fleece on too - unless it's warm in there, in which case... umm... I can't really say "look for the guy with the Canon and bored-to-death girlfriend in tow", because I suspect there'll be a few of them there!
Unless we want to set a time to try and meet somewhere and all say hi, that's the only real way to do it. Floorplan of the place is here (http://www.focus-on-imaging.co.uk/images/floorplan15-2-07.pdf) in case we want to pick a spot and a time?

I'll be fairly hacked off I don't see anyone from here, and as it'll be warm indoors, I WON'T be wearing my TPF fleece either.

Well I got my free pass through this morning.
It says you need to have the pass scanned at the entrance to hall 9 and 10, so that area would be an ideal place to meet I think.

Just a note for those going on the 25th. The NEC is also running the caravan show and it ends on Sunday. The last day for this show is always the worst with roads getting very full very fast. combine this with Focus and the motorways could be a little slow
Give yourself a bit of extra time to get to the show.

I'm taking all of my kit, I want to see if the lowepro stand have a slingshot aw300 so I can see if the 100-400 will fit in attached to the 350d. Other than that I'll be on the lookout for lenses. Of some description.

Bugger Old Man ... I was thinking I was doing rather well keeping it short, now youve just reminded me about backgrounds again, and the fact that my only reflector is a rather large silver/gold one and I want one with b&w too.
Is it just me being a wimp, or does anyone else have to 'fight' with those big foldable reflectors?
