:help: Sorry but in a big rush here - no time to search all the posting - I have a photo shoot tomorrow afternoon (friday 11th) and my cheepie wireless studio flash trigger has died (yes, I know..:bonk: :bonk: but it served a purpose at the time). I need to get a decent replacement today or ordered this morning for delivery tomorrow morning, so can anyone suggest a suitable 1 x trigger 2 x receiver set and a suitable supplier.
I am using a pair of Interfit Stellar 300's and a Canon 40D if this helps.
Flashinthepan has them, but I doubt you would be able to get them for tomorrow unless you drive to scotland :(

There are 20 MILLION items stuck in the mail system in the London area alone at the moment (not all of them are mine ) so unless you can find a retailer that has a reliable courier service then you'll be struggling.
Do you have a Calumet store nearby? They're bound to have something suitable - at a price...

Can they not be triggered by your flash?

Can they not be triggered by your flash?
yes they can but it means also using the flash in the camera which I don't really want to do.
I do have the sync cables but if at all possible I would rather work wire free. Shoot is father and baby, and then mum, dad, baby and toddler, so freedom of movement would be good.
... unless you have some good advice on counter-acting the on-camera flash.?
Where in Lincs are you? I have a Elinchrom set you borrow until then if you need them. I have one trigger and a reciever I normally set the second light to slave and it fires fine. I am in North Lincs. If you get stuck let me know your details by PM.

I had to do it with onboard flash once. I taped a bit of cardboard to the flash so the light only went in the direction of the flash head. Maybe worth a try if all else fails.

Cheers for that Nigey - much appreciated . I have just called Jacobs in Nottingham and they have a radio trigger set in stock and a spare receiver, so I'm shooting over there now. If it turns out to be complete pants, I'll be back to you later this morning. FYI i'm in Grantham.

I had considered this, by using the 580EXmII and pointing the flash backwards. Thanks for the tip - i'll see how the morning pans out - right, off to nottingham!

ok, update. I got to Jacobs and the triggers they had were the new Interfit Strobbies kit things. Not what I was expecting but hey ho.. seemed to work in the store (bit intermittent but I assumed that was just me and the manual triggering to test them) but they looked like they might just do the job. Got them and a spare 23A battery just in case and shot back here.
Honest answer.. they are pants! seriously intermittent operation.
It was looking like I might be driving up to North Lincolnshire (cheers Nigey) when a mate offered to have a look at the gubbings inside my current triggers and receivers.. curious as everything has worked for a while up until now, and then not ... and low and behold, a dry joint in the receiver! A bit of solder and the new 23A battery in the trigger just to be safe and we're now cooking on gas!!
This might be a cheap kit off ebay but it fires every time, first time, and fast too. Looks like my faith has been restored in ching chang chong kit ;)
Thanks everyone for you comments - as you can tell a bit of panic set in this morning. All sorted now.
