My Dad just tried to upgrade the firmware on his 5D, unfortunatly it didn't goto plan, installed of CF card, pressed OK to get it started and it died. Now, no menu's, powers up ok, but nothing on either LCD panel.

Does it have to go to a service center or can you fix this problem from your PC?

Any ideas would be appreciated :)

If the firmware failed to update and has bricked the camera then it would need to go to a service centre as to all intents and purposes the camera is a brick.

OH! did the camera power interrupt at all during the update? Back to the service centre for that one I'm afraid.... is it still in warranty??

Did it have the battery fully charged?

It seems like it will need to be serviced, although I wouldn't expect a major repair cost.
