question on charging your batteries..

as the canon does not have the discharge facility like my old fuji did, do you discharge yours before recharge ?

will charging from half full/empty not shorten the life of the battery,.?

i always try to use the battery till its dead before recharge, but just today, i'm in need of a full charge as i'm a guest attending a school footbal match and need my batts full, but 1 is only half full...?

thanks......... martyn.

I run the battery until the camera refuses to take a picture because the battery is flat, I then recharge and store it charged while I use the other battery.

I never half charge. Are you really likely to go through 1.5 batteries today ?

I suppose you could leave the camera turned off (with the auto sleep disabled) to flatten it and then recharge ?

Lithium Ion batteries are immune from the memory affect of NiCds and NiMH batteries.

I'm not aware of any of this so is it right that you shouldn't re-charge when the battery is half charged then? or is it OK to do this? I normally re-charge if I have 25% power left.

Thats fine. Old style NiCds (often used on DIY drills etc) will suffer a "memory effect" - Google on that.
