Looks like I'll have the opportunity to purchase a 7D in the next couple of months, a big step up from my 350D.
Just wondering, before I buy, if any current 7D owners have experienced any problems with 3rd party lenses?
I've got a Siggy 105 and Tammy 17-50 (the rest are Canon EF or EF-S) and would rather not have to replace them when I make the step upwards.
Cheers!
I doubt you would need to. If you find one off a little the 7D has microadjustment too.
i think he is about the reverse engineered lenses not working with newer bodies. a good example is the sigma flashes and the 50D.
you cant be 100% but as long as they are in warranty and UK sourced Sigma/Tamron should be able to rechip them quite easily.

Yes, that's what I meant. Should they not work with a newer body, how much would rechipping cost approx.?
I had a Sigma 135-400 Apo,originally bought for F1000N, rechipped to work with a 350d. Because I was the original purchaser it cost me £5. It was well out of warranty.

I've not heard of any issues with third party lenses on the 7D but it is early days still. The easiest way to check would be to take your lenses with you to the shop and test them on the 7D that you're about to buy.
