I wonder what's going on there?
I've certainly heard of their products but didn't think they had a large market in Europe generally. Nevertheless it makes you wonder if this is just a falling out with their European distributor or something more serious?

Unseen problems with voltage?!?
Alien Bees seems to have a bit of a cult following in Europe and certainly not heard of any major issues.

They certainly seem to have taken a bashing with constant new products that are not appearing,
Hopefully it isn't but I was looking towards a Einstein when they got released, but this constant mess that they seem to be in isn't really going to do them any favours if it is something more serious.

I suspect it was a falling out with the distributor in Switzerland, since then the international shipping policies on the Paul C Buff websites have become more flexible and also cheaper.

I don't think they thought out their choice of EU distributor carefully enough, when they picked a company in Switzerland

I think they more surprised when it was pointed to them that the Swiss aren't in the EU

Aha, good point! I would love to know what messed it up for the rest of us anyway.
PCBuff gear and accessories are probably some of the most fairly priced strobe lighting available.

Not just your Thomas. I really like the idea of Alien Bees, but if they don't ship then I will have to look elsewhere. Hmmm how to convince the wife the difference to the rangers is worth it.

Funnily enough, I was just thinking about.................
going and getting my lunch
I like the look of the ones on strobist- einstein models, coming 'soon' with multi voltage auto switching

I've got a couple of AB800s, an octabox and a couple of stands from them. They're realy nice kit, very easy to use.
I was very suprised when they did the distribution deal with a swiss firm, but hey ho.
They've been on and off about shipping internationally for a few years now. At one point they were only shipping to existing customers.
