If your planning on buying any gear from ebay, be aware you may be purchasing stolen equipment.

In the last six Months I know of two individuals (from another forum I use) that have a lot of kit stolen.

Here are the details of the theft:

Just a quick note, I have just come back from India and had all my kit and 8000 images stolen as I returned on the train to Delhi. If anyone knows anyone in India could you please forward the list on. I am just trying to get it out into as many places as possible.
I really would like my film and 80GB flash Trax back (with 72GB of images!). I have offered a £1000 reward but I doubt anything will happen.

Thanks

Brian

Please make sure you have a record of all of you kit with serial #'s.
And that you have it insured.

I would be devastated if any of my equipment was stolen and I have nowhere near the same value as the above list. As it has been stolen in India I doubt that much of it will be recovered but like you say it is worth getting the list and serial numbers out for the potential Ebay sales. I just hope he does get at least some of his equipment back and the thieving scumbag who took it gets caught.

I can't get my kit insured unless it gets nicked from the house.
In my line of work, you just have to be careful and suck it up when it goes pear-shaped.
Very few companies will insure for overseas, especially with 'pro' kit being the price it is...
