I was given a Pentax ME Super a few years ago with a 50mm 1.7 lens. The camera has long gone but I kept the lens just in case I could use it one day.
Dug it out a week or so back and ordered a mount converter for my 20D. £6 from Hong Kong and its metal.
I must say the lens performs exceptionaly well and is sharp open and closed.
Just saved myself £70 on the Canon 1.8.

The Pentax 50mm f/1.7 was certainly a decent lens, and I had one myself back in the 1980s/early 90s when I used to have a Pentax MX. A shame you no longer have the camera, but you did well to keep hold of the lens.
The Pentax SMC-M 50/1.7 is my grab n go and lens of choice for walkabout and low light shots, great little lens that can be picked up for around £20 on a certain auction site. get yourself a good un and they're razor sharp.. Be wary that vintage lenses can become a bit of an obsession!!

i guess you are manual focus but does the camera meter correctly using this kit?

You know I never even checked the metering. It should do, cant see why not.

There is a guy on the MF Lens forum who has over 600 MF lenses and they are all itemised with loads of detail for each one near enough!! Now that's dedication!

I love "old" lenses, the Asahi Pentax Takumars are lovely. I'm trying not to go too mad and collect them (can't focus to infinity on my Nikon bodies) but they work great on my A900.
I personally much prefer the feel and build of classic old lenses.
