A friend of mine is a bit nifty with a camera and i'm wanting to know how he took these kinds of shots?
Any pointers? What should i do with a D50 to get similar results?

Bolting your camera to the side of a Cooper S would be a start!

Then select a shutter speed of 0.5 seconds and wheelspin round a multi-storey car park

yup, i followed that post closely and i have got some great shots with the camera mount. will get some more soon aswell.
a little tip. have the shutter speed for as long as possible and keep the car moving as slow as possible that way the camera is less likely to blur when taking the shot, like the last one your mate has taken.
Thanks for that. I realised i would need a mount of some sort and was more interested in what shutter speeds etc i would need. :)

you wanna use about a 3-4 second shutter speed, but that will vary depending on the amount of light hitting the car. its all trial and error.
if you do it during the day then try using an ND filter, i've bought one but not used it yet.
