Most of you will no doubt have seen this shot before in the transport section and you will also have seen that Hacker suggested trying "selective colouring" on this particular pic (thanks mate)

I think the yellow floats are ott and distracting but I very much like the boat, nice job with that.

A few too many floats splattering the background that distract, not add to the image. Other than that spot on

I like it! maybe too many floats, but I think it adds a nice bit of detail. Have you softened the background? dunno why but I think it would look better sharper....probably just me.

I'm with the others on the floats, I think you also need to play with Levels a bit to give it more punch like my first edit, it looks a bit flat. Good work with the boat though!

Nice work Lofty ... but :agree: the most impact in this sort of shot is to restrict the colouring to one subject only ... otherwise it's looking good ...

Nice work. I love selective colouring in photos.

1) Lose the floats.
2) Did you just use the desaturation thing in PS to do the B&W layer? Using a decent action or converting to B&W by a different method would give you a much more contrasty background to complement the boat.

I must give you credit for being so damn patient though lol

I thought '4 hours' bit long; then saw all the little lines of chain and bouys that were included as colour, my god!

Excellent bit of PS work that  :agree: with everyone else about the floats although I would leave the one solitary float on the sand next to the boad in colour
