What abismal weather we had on Sunday.
I had planned to go out taking photos, but decided against it.
I set up a 2 week old Sea Holly from mothers day in a slim vase, and placed this on a black background on the kitchen worktop.

Here is the result

I'm not one for doing still life type photos, but since the first round of the comp I've been looking at other subjects to try.

This is a great photography. Great subject shot under excellent light and the focus point and depth of field used is perfect. Composition wise you have also done a great job by shooting the thistle against the black background and framing it to the left while it is tilting to the open space on the right.

I would like to offer some comment as to how it could be improved but really I think it is perfect as it is. It’s a great photo.

I am glad the competition has inspired you to photograph other subjects.

How did you light it? Flash on-camera would have killed that lovely modelling.

I wanna macro lens!!!

should've entered that into the architecture comp. would have been a good example of natures attempt at bulding design.

I like a lot that picture and the black bk helps to see it better.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

How did you light it?

It is lit from the natural overcast skies we're getting here through the window.
